Thank you for considering Chapter One for placement of your book. We get several requests to carry books in our store from self-published and traditionally published authors. While we try to support as many authors as possible, we simply don’t have room to carry every book we’d like. Below is a list of items we consider when deciding whether your book may be successful in our store:
- Appropriate genre/audience for our store.
- Books that are professionally bound with the title printed on the spine (we want your book to get noticed on our shelves!).
- Books that have been professionally edited (free of errors) and have great “shelf-appeal” with a desirable cover and layout.
- Pricing that is consistent within the genre
If your book has been published through a traditional publisher and we feel we have the appropriate audience for it, we will order it through one of our regular distributors on standard industry terms. If your book is self-published or not available through our regular distributors, we may decide to purchase from you directly. If we decide your book is a good fit for our store, we generally start with 1-2 copies, depending on genre, and reorder as they sell. *Note: if you choose to leave or mail a copy of your book without consulting the buyer first, it will be considered a free review copy.
